New Fall shows

We are all set for a whole list of fun shows in SF over the next couple of months. New Pornographers, Nada Surf, M. Ward. There is even a couple of Decemberist shows, but they are sold out. At least I think they are sold out because I am unable to buy tickets on the Fillmore site but it does not say that it is “SOld Out”.

More voices from the wayback machine

Once again the wayback machine has churned out another contact. This one in the form of Matt D. from my high school days. Is it getting to that point in life when we start to look back instead of looking forward? I think maybe we have a decade or so before we get to that point. Hopefully.

Torture

Paul and I freelanced on some project until 2am last night. (I left at 2, Paul was still there.)

Why would I sign up for extra work if I already have a full time job? Am I retarded? Has my brain come out of my head? Has anyone seen my brain around?

Teenage Fanclub

Had a great time at the Teenage Fanclub show at Bimbos. Probable one of the best places to see a band in the city. These guys just amaze me which how many great songs they have. When you say “I’m going to see Teenage Fanclub” to some people, they say “Are those guys still around?”. Still around? Still around? They have been making great record after great record for more than a decade while a lot of bands can barely get there heads out of their ass.

Here is a list in case you have been in a cave:

  • A Catholic Education (1990)
  • Bandwagonesque (1991)
  • Thirteen (1993)
  • Grand Prix (1995)
  • Song from Northern Britain (1997)
  • Howdy (2002)
  • Man Made (2005)

Any of these records would have been a great record by any band. But put them all together and you get a body of work that I will be listening to for a long time.

Hi Kenny

Went and saw an old friend and his band play at a local club yesterday. It was a fun night. I got my lead singer and half her family out to the club as well. I pulled a nice fast one on Kenny and he introduced himself as if we didn’t know each other. It could not have been better. Later on he played the same trick on his younger sister who was also at the show. Am I that unrecognizable from my youth? (- 10 to 15 years)

We ended the evening with a nice last night mac and cheese fest at home.
