Wrecked Ferrari a publicity stunt?
Comedian Eddie Griffin wrecked a $1.5 million dollar Ferrari that belonged to the producer of his new movie “Redline” (a movie about cars!) and not one news outlet that picked up the story would even hint at the idea that they may have totaled the car on purpose.
They are about the put out a B movie that everybody, for the most part, would have ignored. Suddenly there is a wreck with a priceless Ferrari and everybody now knows about this movie “Redline” and the news outlets fall all over themselves to give coverage to the crash.
I would not be surprised if Eddit Griffins sole talent in this new movie is to wreck nice cars and then look at the camera and say “Whatcha gonna do. Brother can’t drive!”

Just about everything is bugging the crap out of me today. I don’t really know why. Little stuff and big. Music, life, work, laundry, my morning coffee, all of it just seems to be rubbing me the wrong way today. I think my saving grace has been the weather, which for no reason has been bright and crisp, just like I like it.
Is it brain chemicals? Is my underwear to tight? Is the barometer dropping?
I guess sometimes you just have to let yourself be a cranky baby.

Don’t know how much time they spent putting this together but it must have been a long time. This is probable the best spoof that I have seen of Star Wars stuff since Chad Vader

Alanna is on a girls gone wild road trip to Arizona to visit her friend Veronica. You can check out pics from her trip on her blog, she is posting a couple of pics a day.

Alanna and I just got back from a nice little weekend trip to Calistoga. First thing we did on Friday was to get up to Napa and drop in on the DiRosa Preserve. Neither of us had been so it sounded like a great tour of some of the best California art available. We stayed at the Golden Haven Friday and Saturday, it’s just off the main drag through town. We had a nice room with our own hot tub which we thankfully used. On Saturday we had a nice treat by doing mud baths together.
Later in the day we went to Charles Krug to do some wine tasting and then across the street to the CIA GreyStone to check out cool cooking gadgets.

I am using some of my Amex points to buy a new digital camera. I guess we need a new digital camera like we need another hole in the head, but I decided that I would take more pics if I had a working digital camera that wasn’t always crapping out on me.
I got a small 6.1 megapixel Sony camera. I’m sure Alanna will use the new camera just as much as me.
As soon as I get the camera, I want to get into the habit of uploading at least one picture a day. I got out of the habit of doing any pics when my last camera went on the fritz.

After countless curses uttered in the name of Quicken for MAC, I finally found a nice program for finances on the MAC. Moneydance is where it’s at.
They have a nice long trial period, pretty easy setup and import functions, a sweet homepage customization where you can put all the things that matter to you on your screen when you first open the software.
I used to use MS Money when I was on a PC, but since Alanna turned me from the dark side of the force back in 2003, I have had a pain in the ass time with Quicken (Because I couldn’t find anything else that worked on a MAC). Quicken works, don’t get me wrong, but I always found the UI really crappy to deal with and lots of weird bugs that never seemed to get fixed. I even thought of getting Virtual PC so I could go back to MS Money, but I remembered how I hated all the “I’m a browser”, “no I’m a news aggregator”, “no I’m a stock quote widget” crap that MS would bloat that software with.
So if you are in the same boat try Moneydance.
Good Stuff:
1. Key commands that actually work!!! (How about that one…)
2. Kick ass software UI, with logical layout
3. Customization of homepage
4. Cross platform (for all you linux geeks in need of financial software)
5. Nice real-time search in each account window (except Investment)
6. Nice backup functionality
Some weirdness: Ok, so there are a couple of things that are weird to get used to.
1. You need to install a couple of plugins to get the investment prices to update on a regular basis. I think this functionality should be built in and easily turned on in the preferences but it is only a minor distraction.
2. It remembers previous transaction catagories in the main accounts (bank and credit card) but it doesn’t seem to have this function in the investment accounts. (could be a weird glitch)
3. Reporting is kinda so-so. Could be better implemented with in-page functions instead of as a pop up. It took me a little while to figure out how to track down the total amount that I transfered from one account to another last year.
4. Should have the same search functions in the investment side as it does in the regular side. But it doesn’t
