Democracy: Where any two idiots outvote a genius.

I have two proposals that will change how politics works in this country and would cost very little to do.

1. Test all politicians like you would with normal job applicants.
If you would like to work for the CIA or the FBI or even the police in this country you have to go through written exams as well as psychological testing in order to be fit for duty. Makes sense right? You don’t want psychotic people in positions of power? Lets test the politicians!

In order to run for office you have to take a multiple choice test about the country, its laws, basic understanding of various subjects including tax systems, accounting etc. This would also include a math portion and a written portion with an essy. These tests would be in the same vein as the SAT but more centered around government.

The next test is a bit more in depth. Each candidate would be given an IQ test along with a psychological profile about how they make decisions. Hell if you want to work for me, I want to know a little bit more about you.

The results of these tests would be public and accompany the candidate in all literature and all TV appearances.

Maybe even make them pee in a cup. Why not? They make all the other federal employees pee in a cup? Right? In fact, I want their annual physicals made public too. I want to know if my senator has a bad heart or gonorrea.

2. Make the day we vote a national holiday!
We have fucking holiday for Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Columbus Day, and Thanksgiving, but not one damn mention of a holiday for the most basic freedom that everybody has in this country. Does that make sense?

I’ll leave with you with some interesting remarks made by our politicians

Nada Surf and Rogue Wave

Went and saw Nada Surf and Rogue Wave at the Fillmore this week. It was a great show. Its great to see a local band like Rogue Wave with such a great album. They were lots of fun to see live.

Nada Surf had a great show as well. They are touring with a keyboard player and I think it adds a whole other level of texture to their live shows.

BofA Debit Card hell

Unfotunately I was caught up in this BofA debit card shite. Kind of crazy that a company can put all these peoples Debit cards at risk and not have anybody know which company it was.

I hope that this story will be ongoing. Maybe someone will follow up and find out what the deal really is.

Shut up and Keep Shopping

I have been kinda confused about what exactly the government has been trying to get across to us about the war on terrorism. I mean for all of us who are not fighting overseas or are not part of the military establishment no one has really been able to tell me. Since 9/11 the government has told everybody to just go about their business. Buy that house! Get that car! But at the same time saying what a dangerous situation we are in and we should not question those in authority because they know what’s really going on.

During all the other wars there were drafts, blood drives, rubber drives, the government put the people to work making tanks, airplanes guns, ammo and machine parts. What should the American people be doing to help combat this evil threat that is bent on world domination?

It took me a while to distill down what the main thrust of the message from the Whitehouse is, but I think I finally figured it out.

It’s not how big it is, it’s what you do with it

Just found a cool little fact. The U.S. dollar bill is exactly 6″ long. If you are ever in need of a ruler and can’t find one, keep that in mind.
