Giant
We watched George Stevens “Giant” last night. Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, James Dean. I hadn’t seen it in so long that what I remembered seems like such a small part of the whole story. What I originally remember about the story was the Jet Rink (James Dean) character and his oil strike on the land that was given him by the sister of Rock Hudson. The much larger story is about the family itself about oil and about racism and generations in america.
I was pretty surprised to see Dennis Hopper and Sal Mineo from “Rebel Without a Cause” appear as well. I probable didn’t even know who they were the last time I saw the movie, which was sometime in the 80’s.
No commentsMicrosoft FireFox
This Microsoft FireFox spoof is so well done that I almost believe that its serious. It even has videos. I mean well done videos. Most people who have actual products would be lucky to have a site that is done this well. Look at the time they took to do the box shot. Sweet.
Ok, I’m kind of a geek to appreciate this but, get your kicks where you can.
No commentsDanger Danger Danger
Clothes and especially wedding clothes are probable one of the biggest rackets. I think the whole wedding event thing is kind of a racket. Maybe there is some secret society kinda like the wedding mafia that controls these things. I think the toughest is going to be the wedding dress.
I will get married in the nude or in space suits I don’t care. But I understand how “The Dress” can make such a difference for the bride. That’s why I am declaring the “You want it, you got it” policy regarding the wedding dress. As long as she feels like she wants to feel, it’s worth every penny.
No commentsCalistoga
We were in Calistoga over last weekend, doing some relaxing. Here are some photos up on Alanna’s Flickr site.
We went to Krug Winery and soaked in Doc Wilkinsons hot pools for 3 days. We even had a chance to hang out in St. Helena and watch a motorcycle chase right through the middle of town. We are rested relaxed and ready to get wound up.
Alanna is working on her projects for school and I am working on our wedding invitation.

He also has some great other content. If you are a geek or know someone who is. His book also looks pretty interesting. It has a great microsite.
No commentsMario Kart Wii in April
Mario Kart for the Wii is set to be release in the US sometime in April according to Kotaku. You can use it with the new wheel as well as with various controllers including the old Nintendo ones. Lots of courses, battle mode. You can even use your Mii instead of the classic Mario characters. Sounds pretty sweet.

$42 million in postage
In another WTF moment, the Associated Press is running a story that the government is sending out letters to 130 million Americans telling them that their rebate check is on the way. Total cost of postage? $42 million dollars.
How about we skip this letter and put a little something extra in my check?

WFANFC at Mezzanine
We went to see the Rosebuds and Working for a Nuclear Free City at Mezzanine last friday. It was really good to see WFANFC on their first ever tour to the US. It kinda sucked that they had to kick it off at the Mezzanine with such crappy sound.
